Warranty - Beware Buying computer warranty from PowersellerNYC.

I purchased a computer from PowersellerNYC and purchased a three year warranty with it. PowersellersNYC is saying that I did not register the computer. I did not recieve any registration documents when I purchased the computer. I thought that when I purchased the computer that they registered it. Now PowersellerNYC will not give me my money back or fix my computer under the warranty. Is there anyone else who experienced this type of treatment by PowersellersNYC, let me know. Maybe we can get a class action lawsuit going against this practice. PowersellersNYC still has my money and I have no warranty!

i had a similar situation

call the company issuing the warranty

they will give you the refund

your computer is probably not able to get a warranty

because it is refurbished and not new

my tv was refurbished, and beyond being able to buy a warranty at least i got the money back ($150) from them someday, they will get what they deserve, as the wheel turns

please contact me regarding legal action with the nyc consumer fraud division of the da's office...cannot believe they are still in business...although as of this morning, no calls to the retail store or the sales or support numbers are being picked up...

thanks

They sent my warranty information in an e-mail and I had to go to a site and register my computer there. They don't do it yourself so I'm glad I asked them.

Powersellernyc sent a damage TV and did not take responsability

BUYER BEWARE!! The standard shipping can take up to a month! You have to pay more to have the within a decent time frame. TV arrived damaged and the company did everything to avoid dealing with it. They ignored it until I filed a claim with my credit card. The tried to intimidate me, they cursed at me. They are only nice until they have your money. Ultimately, Amex honored the claim. This company is only nice until they have the order. once they've got your money they will tell you to screw off and leave them alone. Buyer beware

Fradulent Sales Tactics

Ordered online item, they emailed me to call about the order. When I called they upsold me a warranty on the item stating the mfg warranty was not available b/c I was "not paying MSRP", so I agreed to buy warranty. Confirmed the order. I immediately called manufacturer to confirm this claim. The mfg said they do not offer warranty b/c the retailer is "not an authorized dealer". I called Powerseller NYC back to cancel the order, was shouted at on the phone, called a liar. When the customer service rep finally stopped talking, I explained what happend and that the previous customer service rep had told me to buy the warranty b/c I "did not pay MSRP" (and not that Powerseller NYC was not an authorized dealer). I told them I do not do business with people who engage in fruadulent business practices so cancel my order...it was still difficult (he continued to yell at me! Could not believe it) but eventually agreed to cancel my order with no residual charges. Unbelievable!

PowersellerNYC = Shady

Company sold me a home theater projector that had been tampered with, preventing redemption of rebate worth $700 and precluding product registration for extended warranty purposes. On June 15, 2009, I bought online an Epson 6500UB projector from PowersellerNYC for the advertised price of $2,864. The projector was listed as "new." The box arrived a few days later without a serial number label, which is required to redeem the current $400 + spare bulb rebate offered by Epson. PowersellerNYC customer service stated that is because they don't sell merchandise that is eligible for the rebate and the box label was intentionally removed before shipping to prevent redemption of the rebate. Upon further inspection, I found the data plate, which should be on the projector itself, was also missing. Therefore, I have no serial number information on the projector and cannot register the extended warranty sold to me by PowersellerNYC, making the warranty worthless. The bottom line is that PowersellerNYC advertised a price and made no mention of "after rebate" or anything else like it. During my initial complaint by phone on 23 June, the merchant's customer service representative acknowledged that the "only thing they did wrong" was advertise the after-rebate price without specifying that fact. (Other vendors' sites do clearly disclose the price both before and after the rebate.) I even mentioned to the person during order confirmation by phone more than a week earlier that I was going to redeem the rebate and he didn't say a word in warning. This same projector is available from AT LEAST three other vendors listed on Pricegrabber.com for about $100 more, but they explicitly acknowledge the rebate eligibility and value, which brings their prices well below this misleading outfit in New York. That doesn't even account for the $300 bulb, which I also have missed out on. So, for $100 more in price, I could've gotten $700 more in value. This equates to $600, or 20+ percent, net loss on my part. I hardly think PowersellerNYC would be successful advertising honest prices 20% above the competition. I'll leave it to you to decide whether this was willful misrepresentation. Made my initial notification to customer service and was promised a call back within 24 hours. Three days and two additional attempts later I've heard nothing, but they had no problem confirming my order within mere hours. I'll be happy to edit this review if PowersellerNYC addresses my complaint in an acceptable manner. For now, I'm not holding my breath and this rating stands. Buyer beware. PS. Don't be fooled by the storefront pic on their website, which might lend some credibility to their operation by indicating that they are a legit business with a physical store. The sign over over the doorways has been photoshopped. Don't know who those folks are or where they really work.

Trying to get a refund for a Toshiba projector that I bought from them, gave me an RA number then they canceled it. Tried to register the projector with Toshiba and they said it was refurbished.

It's on its way to NYC however, but they claim they will refuse it.

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! Should have read the complaints BEFORE I bought the item

Can't figure out how to update/edit the original so I'll give this a try...

Had what I considered to be a serious problem with my purchase of an Epson 6500UB projector from PowersellerNYC. Product arrived on time, but without a serial number label on the box and it was also missing the data plate with the same info. This prevented me from redeeming the manufacturer’s rebate worth $700 (cash plus bulb) as well as prohibited product registration for the extended warranty I purchased. I felt this constituted misrepresentation of price (at a minimum) and aggressively pursued restitution through the merchant's customer service representative, Justin.

After some early “hiccups” with PowersellerNYC’s customer service, the company offered a satisfactory resolution to my complaint. All in all, the experience would’ve been better if the problem had never occurred, but I have to give them credit for settling the issue in an equitable manner. Would only suggest that buyers are very careful about establishing all the facts relevant to their purchasing decision before hitting the “checkout” button. Don’t assume anything and clear up any potential issues during the phone confirmation. Guess I could've done a better job of this myself and hope this review might help keep others from stumbling into the same situation.

(Have to say I do absolutely love the projector.)

No Way to Cancel Order w/o Bogus Fees

On 11/4/08 I placed an order with Powerseller for a tv. They immediately charged my account on that date, even though the item was not shipped. I repeatedly called them to determine when the item was shipped and when I could expect delivery, but they could not tell me. Since I really wanted a tv, on 11/21/08, after again asking for delivery info and not getting any, I advised them to cancel the order on 11/21/08 (via phone, email and thru their website. When I received my Amex bill, on 11/21/08, I called and disputed the 11/4/08 charge from Powerseller, since I had cancelled the order. On 11/21/08 I place a new order with TV & Computer Sales (charged to my account on 11/24/08), and received the tv on 11/26/08. At this point I was a happy camper, but then, on 12/1/0,8 a delivery was attempted for a tv, which I refused (I had my tv already). I wasn't sure who had shipped the item, but I suspected it might be Powerseller, but that didn't make any sense since I had cancelled my order with them. They now are charging me cancellation fees and restock fees for $398.79. Nice outfit!!

Power Sellers NYC - scam artists

Buyer Beware. Ordered and paid for a new Sharp LC42D72 42" LCD HDTV, received a used, lesser value Sharp 37" (LC37D40U). If you do decide to take the risk and order, MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE PRODUCT NUMBER ON BACK OF TV. We didn't realize that it was different until close inspection. The outer box labeling was correct. Unfortunately we had already signed for the delivery. Called immediately. No resolve. No refund. No communication. Complaints have been filed with the BBB, Consumer Protection Agency, and the Internet Crime Complaint Center. Point of interest; search Brooklyn StoreFronts to view this store.

I had a bad exp. with them too.

They charged $99 of insurance, of course + some junk service plan I did not order. I ended up paying them since my credit company could not do anything about it.

Bank of America could not do anything about this scan artist people. I don't know why they dispute department anyway.

$299 gone...

I went to the website and they brag of a fabulous showroom, they even have a retail store button and what appears to be a computer generated image of a showroom but I spent 15 minutes since I am in NYC and it was no where to be found

I called these people asking them if they would match the price on a TV. The guy I was talking to became extremely rude with me, and then started asking me why I even bothered calling, because he didn't like the fact that I wanted to price match something.

I asked to speak to his manager, and instead of being directed to the manger, the rep refused to transfer me to him, and said that he was out for the day, at 3:30 pm. Then started telling me that the manager wouldn't even bother with my price match, and that I was better off stealing it from the store that I wanted to price match with. What kind of response is that???

Horrible and rude service. Stay Away!

The scam artist sold us a sharp 70inch TV with an upgrade of $300 which is complete scam and a TV stand that does not work. Capital one told us to dispute the amount $799.39 but could not help us to get back the full amount, just the TVstand of $399.99 which we returned.

They claim to give free delivery but charge insurance fee of $99.40.

So buyers beware of the scam artist, and we will try using American Express since Capital one does not seem able to help. If my husband has the time, he will pursue the case.

I couldn't disagree more with the comments here. I purchased a new Sony Bravia KDL-46HX820 3D TV from these folks for my husband for Christmas and couldn't be happier with either the TV or the service.

It was hundreds cheaper than then any competitor (including Best Buy) and included free shipping to my NH home.

I've talked to them multiple times with questions and they have always been very helpful & courteous. Given my experience, I'll definately use them in the future.

Valued Shopping Community,

Regarding the initial complaint here, you will see that it has been resolved (if you make your way to the end). In addition, there are several complaints in this thread that have been updated by the user once they were addressed. Unfortunately, people are very quick to post complaints when they have issues, yet once resolved are not quick to update or remove them.

Please understand that we do take these issues very seriously. Things of this nature are few and far between and very rare. What we would like people to understand is the amount of items we ship out, and the vast number of distributors and manufacturers that we deal with. It does take time to get issues addressed, and we do attempt resolution of any and all complaints. We strive for customer satisfaction. Any of the posters here can feel free to call us at any time. We would be more than happy to discuss any of these issues, and offer any type of resolution we can.

Hi guys,

I bought a "new" Tv from powersellernyc and broke within first 9 month. When i contacted them they told me they do not offer warranty after they gave me the runaround for 2 weeks. When I contacted VIZIO I found out that my tv did not have a serial no.Now I am stuck with it. I will file complains against the company but little hope I will recover my money.

Guest

Oh yeah,

bought Sony Viao. Got it..but when I tried to connect to Netflix, I found out that it had no serial number...either it was stolen or it was a clone.

Thank goodness I bought it through American Express. Got my money back and the TV!

Double-billed me for an HDTV

I ordered a $799 Visio L37 HDTV on Oct 1st 2007 that arrived a week later. The TV was defective. I tried Visio support in hopes that it could be revived but they told me it was more than two years old and had nothing to suggest. I repeatedly phoned Powersellernyc and finally received a replacement on the 30th. It was a remanufactured unit but at least it worked. Powersellernyc told me that they would pick up the defective unit. On the 31st of December they billed my credit card another $799 for the defective TV that still awaits pickup.

This customer ordered a TV from us, which arrived damaged. While involved in settling the claim for the damaged merchandise, we shipped him a new TV.

The model number of the unit he ordered was clearly marked as REFURBISHED, and both TV's that were sent to him were as such. It is a policy of the insurance company that the damaged merchandise does not move locations until the claim is settled. During this time, the customer took it upon himself to sell the damaged TV, which was only damaged to the point that lines were across the screen. He told one of our reps that he sold the TV to someone who was in hopes of repairing it.

We were unable to complete the claim due to the fact that he moved the merchandise, and since he was in possession of two televisions, we billed his card.

It is not something that we wanted to do at all, because it made for an unhappy customer. I hope that anyone reading this can understand our position.
